As a result, tobacco retailers located in New York State should clear their electronic cigarettes at the point of sale within two weeks.

According to New York State health authorities, smoking rates for high school students recently increased significantly from about 10 percent in 2014, five years ago, to twenty-seven percent last year.

In particular, the smoking rate for students who are about to graduate from high school is 40 percent.

In addition to the state of New York, other states are also considering a ban on selling electronic cigarettes.
