Independence preparation youth means a young man who is protected by child care facilities, community families, and family consignment.

More than 2,000 young people in preparation for independence each year leave their children's welfare facilities and commissioned families, starting their independence as an adult, but more and more cases are experiencing economic difficulties as protection ends without sufficient preparation.

In particular, five years after the end of protection, young people are often in blind spots that are not subject to external support, including the government's independence allowance, and the rate of economic and emotional difficulties is increasing as the period of independence is longer.

To solve this problem, the KBS Kang Tae -won Welfare Foundation has been implementing the 'Independence Preparation Youth Food Support Project' since 2023, and the number of applicants is steadily increasing every year.
