As the number of people living alone increases, three out of 10 houses last year were single-person households.
According to data from the National Statistical Office, the number of single-person households last year was 9.935 million, an increase of about 210,000 households in one year.
Experts explained that various social factors, including the increase in the unmarried rate, the high divorce rate, and the rapidly aging phenomenon, are influencing the increase in single-person households.
Experts pointed out that with the number of single-person households expected to increase in the future, the issues of 'solitude' and 'poverty' of single-person households could emerge as serious problems for our society.
