The period drama “Okikuwa World” was ranked #1 in the 97th Kinema Junpo BEST 10 Japanese Movies!

Director Junji Sakamoto's 30th work and a new, never-before-seen period drama, "Okikuwa World," completed with his first original script, is attracting a lot of attention as it won first place in the Kinema Junbo Japanese Film BEST 10 and the best screenplay award.

“When I Look Into Your Eyes,” “Drive My Car,” “Wife of a Spy,” and “A Certain Family,” which received enthusiastic love as hit films upon release, were also selected as No. 1 in Kinema Junbo’s BEST 10 Japanese films of all time.

In addition, at this year's Kinema Junpo, "TAR Tar" won first place in the Best 10 Foreign Films, "Men with Cameras – Filming the Great Kanto Earthquake" won first place in the Best 10 Cultural Films, Wim Wenders won the Japanese Film Director Award for "Perfect Days", and won the Best Actress Award for "Hokage". Shuri from , and Koji Yakusho from “Perfect Days,” “Familia,” and “Father of the Galactic Express” won the best actor award.

Meanwhile, "Okikuwa World" won the grand prize, best screenplay, and best recording at the 78th Mainichi Film Competition announced last month, beating out 2023 hot Japanese films "Monster" and "How Will They Live?" It garnered attention by winning three awards.
