There is no medical policy on how to safely terminate a pregnancy.

What is the reality of women who are considering terminating their pregnancy in Korea amid this system gap?

New Story met with women who aborted their pregnancies after the abolition of the abortion law and heard their stories.

Since it is up to the hospital to set the price, the cost and standards for abortion surgery vary from hospital to hospital.

The oral abortion pill and miscarriage inducing agent (Mifgin), which is legally used in 95 countries around the world, is designated as an essential medicine by the World Health Organization and is recommended as a safe abortion method up to the 9th week of pregnancy, but it is still illegal in Korea.

However, some women who want to abort their pregnancy with medication or are reluctant to go to the hospital are purchasing miscarriage inducing drugs sold illegally online for hundreds of thousands of won.

This week, we will cover the problems and realities arising from the gap in abortion legislation and explore what is needed in the future for safe termination of pregnancy and women's right to health.
