Broadcaster Park Soo-hong's sister-in-law, Lee, was sentenced to a fine of 12 million won for spreading false information about Park.

The court determined that Mr. Lee spread false information to sway public opinion in his favor during the legal dispute with Mr. Park.

In particular, spreading false information in a KakaoTalk group chat room, such as that Mr. Park was living with a woman at the time of his broadcast appearance, and slandering Mr. Park by saying that he lied about his embezzlement, were considered clear defamation.

Mr. Lee claimed that what he conveyed to his acquaintances was true and that there was no purpose of slander, but the court did not accept this.
