Cultural critic Kim Gap-soo once again mentioned the controversy over singer Lim Young-woong's DM amidst the impeachment situation, pointing out the passive attitude of celebrities and emphasizing that they must speak out if they pursue democracy.
In a video titled 'Celebrities whose status has risen should speak out in times like this' on the YouTube channel 'Maebul Show' released on the 16th, Kim Gap-su and broadcaster Choi Wook, the host, reexamined Lim Young-woong's DM controversy.
Choi Wook first tried to clear up any misunderstandings about mentioning the Lim Young-woong DM controversy on last week's 'Maebul Show'.
“If a person who pursues democracy does not speak up in times like this, when will I ever speak up as a professional?” he asked, revealing a critical view of the silence of celebrities.
He then urged, “The point of my story is that it is time to speak out against the silence of celebrities and their extremely passive actions.”
On the 'Maebul Show' on the 9th, Kim Gap-soo also pointed out that Lim Young-woong's DM comments, especially the replies "Am I a politician?" and "Why do I raise my voice there?", said, "He lacks basic civic knowledge."
He strongly criticized it, saying, "If you take a bystander attitude and let yourself get away with it even if you cannot act actively or speak out, you should be considered unqualified as a Korean who has created Korea's history up to the present with great difficulty."
