9th African swine fever virus and access control system in Cheorwon

The National Institute of Environmental Research (Director Jang Yoon-seok) of the Ministry of Environment announced on April 8 that the swine fever virus was detected in a wild boar caught in a capture frame installed at 313 Jinhyeon-ri, Wonnam-myeon, Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do.

At around 7:00 am on November 6, the military found a wild boar caught in a catching frame during the patrol, reported it to the Academy of Sciences and the municipality, and controlled access.

The institute collected samples according to the standard behavior guidelines for wild boar African swine fever around 4 pm the same day.

Cheorwon and military units buried the carcass after site disinfection.

The Academy of Sciences conducted a thorough analysis and finally confirmed the African swine fever virus around 2 pm on November 8, and informed the relevant institutions of the results.

As a result, the 9th African swine fever virus was detected in Cheorwon, and it has increased to 23 cases nationwide.
