Sangwangdeungdo Island, located 32km away from Gyeokpo Port in the western sea of the Byeonsan Peninsula, is a remote island at the farthest and western end of Jeollabuk-do waters and is one of only 7 inhabited islands out of a total of 23 territorial sea points that determine Korea's territory.

Wido, 19km east of Sangwangdeungdo, the starting point of the territorial sea, was the center of the ‘Chilsan Sea’, a golden fishing ground in the past.

Sangwangdeungdo Island, at the end of the western waters of the Byeonsan Peninsula, is one of a total of 23 territorial sea points that determine Korea's territory, and the Korea Maritime Survey Association's reference point management team regularly inspects territorial sea point markers.

Since Sangwangdeungdo Island, the starting point of the territorial sea, is firmly established here, the maritime territory of the central and western part of Korea is expanding accordingly, and the home for us to live in is also expanding.

In fact, Wido, 19km from the east of Sangwangdeungdo Island, was the center of the golden fishing ground 'Chilsan Sea' in the past.
