Rheumatoid arthritis has various symptoms depending on the severity such as pain, stiffness, and joint destruction, and it is difficult to think of the patient separately from other diseases.

In 2016, the Korean Rheumatic Society surveyed 1,124 patients who visited 19 university hospitals nationwide. On average, rheumatoid arthritis takes two years (23.27 months) for the patient to know the disease.

Nine people have been diagnosed to take more than a year.

In patients with ankylosing spondylitis, the delay in diagnosis was 39.9 months on average, which was more than one year later than rheumatoid arthritis.

Ankylosing spondylitis is a type of chronic spondyloarthropathy that causes inflammation of the spine and gradually hardens the spinal cord.

It occurs in young men in their late teens and early twenties. In some cases, eyes, kidneys, heart, intestines, and appendicitis can be seen in addition to the spine.

It is possible.

Kim Hyun-suk, a public relations secretary who is in charge of public relations for the Korean Rheumatology Society, said, “Rheumatic disease is a chronic disease that causes physical disability.

"Therapeutic methods have made rapid progress compared to the past, but various factors still delay the diagnosis of rheumatoid disease, so this year's theme is set to Golden Time to guide the importance of early diagnosis and early treatment."

Park Sung-hwan, chairman of the Korean Rheumatology Society said, “In the flood of information, many people rely on portal search for their symptoms. If left unattended, symptoms may worsen and cause the worst.”

We look forward to being able to recognize our symptoms as symptoms of rheumatoid disease and lead to early diagnosis and treatment through the Gold Ring Campaign National Health Course.

On the other hand, the Gold Ring campaign celebrated 10 times this year as a public know-how campaign for rheumatism, in which patients, families, and medical teams promise to hope for treatment of rheumatic diseases.

The Korean Rheumatology Society conducts national health lectures every year as part of the Gold Ring Campaign to raise awareness of patients and the public about rheumatic diseases.
